چکیده

JLab has been at the forefront of a program to measure the nucleon spin-dependent structure functions over a wide kinematic range, and data of unprecedented quality has been extracted in all three experimental halls. Moments of these quantities have proven to be powerful tools to test QCD sum rules and provide benchmark tests of Lattice QCD and Chiral Perturbation Theory. Precision measurements of g1,2 and g p 1 have been performed as part of the highly successful ‘extended GDH program’, but data on the g 2 structure function remain scarce. We discuss here JLab experiment E08-027, which will measure g 2 in the resonance region at low Q 2. These data will be used to test the Burkhardt-Cottingham sum rule and to extract the higher moments δ p LT (Q2) and d p 2(Q 2). Data in the Q2 range 0.02 < Q2 < 0.4 GeV2 will provide unambiguous benchmark tests of χPT calculations on the lower end, while probing the transition region at the high Q2 end where parton-like behaviour begins to emerge. This data will also have a significant impact on our theoretical understanding of the hyperfine structure of the proton, and reduce the systematic uncertainty of previous experiments which extracted the g 1 structure from purely longitudinal measurements.

Spin Sum Rules and Polarizabilities: Results from Jefferson Lab

The nucleon spin structure has been an active, exciting and intriguing subject of interest for the last three decades. Recent experimental data on nucleon spin structure at low to intermediate momentum transfers provide new information in the confinement regime and the transition region from the confinement regime to the asymptotic freedom regime. New insight is gained by exploring moments of s...

About influence of the deuteron electric and magnetic plarizabities on measurement of the deuteron EDM in a storage ring

In the present paper influence of tensor electric and magnetic polarizabilities on spin evolution in the resonance deuteron EDM experiment is considered in details. It is shown that besides EDM the electric and magnetic polarizabilities also contribute to the vertical spin component P3. Moreover, the electric polarizability contributes to the P3 component even when the deuteron EDM is supposed ...

Spin rotation and oscillations for high energy particles in a crystal and possibility of measurement of quadrupole moments and tensor polarizabilities of elementary particles and nuclei

It is shown that particle motion in a bent (straight) crystal is accompanied by particle spin rotation and oscillations that allows to measure the tensor electric polarizability of nuclei and elementary particles.

Single Particle and Collective Spin Excitations in Semimagnetic Quantum Wells

Collective and single-particle spin-flip excitations of a two-dimensional electron gas in a semimagnetic Cd1−xMnxTe quantum well are observed by resonant Raman scattering. Application of a magnetic field splits the spin-subbands and a spin-polarization is induced in the electron gas. Above some critical field, a collective spin-flip mode, which disperses with in-plane wave vector, dominates the...

Model-dependence of the single-pion contribution to the GDH, Baldin, and forward spin-polarizability sum rules is explored, using the most recent SAID multipole analysis. Results from SAID and MAID are compared. We have calculated the GDH, Baldin and forward spin-polarizability (γ 0) sum rules using our most recent analysis of single-pion photoproduc-tion data. This set of integrals is useful i...
